Can You Learn While You Sleep?

Yes! There's an exciting new manuscript I just discovered in the public domain called Learn While You Sleep. Here's the press release:

Exciting Manuscript Aboutthe Power of Sleep-Learning Now Available Online

Philadelphia, PA; Monday, 5/9/05 -- Ever wanted to learn a new language? Or maybe break a bad habit such as nail biting or smoking? Did you know it might be easier to dothese things while you're sleeping than it iswhile you're awake?

That's right; now a rediscovered classic manuscript tells how thehuman brain often absorbs information better whileat rest than it does by actively working on things wide awake.
Kathi MacNaughton, who recently rediscovered"Learn While You Sleep," by David Curtis, in the public domain tells why she decided to post thecontents of this book online. "It's scientifically-based information that is really valuable for people who want to learn a new skill, but just can't find the time to focus on it in today's 'rush-rush' lifestyles. Sleep-learning can be highly effective, when used correctly."

The book provides step-by-step instructions and many sample scripts for initiating your own sleep-learning program. Ms. MacNaughton has created a website where peoplewho are interested in reading "Learn While YouSleep" can go at www.sleep-learning-guide.com. She goes on to say that future updates to the site will include current sleep-learning research and success stories from people who have used this approach to learn a language or anything else.

Sleep-learning is as valid today as it was when first researched and studied in the 1900's. And now it's easily accessible online for easy reading and comprehension.

Sleep-Learning-Guide.com is a free website developed by Kathi MacNaughton, a freelance writer, to share "Learn While You Sleep"with the public. For additional information, visit www.sleep-learning-guide.com.

There you have it!

Enjoy,
Kathi

Just How DO You Write a Resume for a Career Change?

Recently 2 of my readers posed similar questions...

How should I start writing my resume? The job that I am looking for is Interior Designing, which I have no specific background in here.

I'm changing career from biochemistry to banking. How do i write a resume?

The answer to both is "very carefully..." :-)

Seriously, though, you do have to take a slightly different, non-traditional approach with your resume when seeking a career change. First off, you'll want to consider using a functional or combination--rather than a chronological--resume format.

With these, you emphasize transferable skills and experience, rather than your past job history. You can read more about the different types of resume formats here:
http://www.powerful-sample-resume-formats.com/resume-formats.html

Transferable skills are skills you bring from past jobs or personal life experiences to a new career. If you don't already have the skills you need, you may want to think about getting some training. There are many online options thesedays, which you can do at your own pace. I talk about some of your options here:
http://www.powerful-sample-resume-formats.com/advance-your-career.html

With a career change, a sharp resume cover letter is also essential. It will help the recruiter understand why you should be considered for a job for which you have no direct experience. You can learn how to write great cover letters here:
http://www.powerful-sample-resume-formats.com/resume-cover-letter.html

You can read a more detailed response to these questions at this page on my site:

And don't forget, you can get more pithy advice and tips like these delivered right to your email inbox by subscribing to Resume Power Tips, my monthly ezine. As a free bonus for subscribing, you'll also receive a 7-day ecourse on leveraging your resume to helping you ace any job interview you want. Subscribe to career change advice here:

In this month's issue I feature an article from guest author Patricia Soldati about debunking the "follow your bliss" myth of career finding. Ms. Soldati argues that figuring out a career change takes more than reading a few book or attending a seminar... "You can't think your way to a new career—or, at least you can't 99% of the time. The truth is that career change is no walk in the park. It takes focus, a smart strategy and guts."

She goes on to tell you just how to use focus, strategy and guts to achieve your career goals. If you're thinking about making a career change, you really must read this article. To get the full text, please join our mailing list.

Other features in this month's issue of Resume Power Tips include my answer to a question posed by one of our readers: "I am not actively looking for a job, but would like to have my resume ready in case I would need it in the future. For the last six years, I have been a stay at home mom. I have a BA, and work experience from the past. What do I say that I have been doing for the last six years?", info on this month's survey (How Can We Serve You Better?), and current job news headlines.

Job Seeker SPECIAL REPORT: Resume Help & Cover Letter Tips That Job Seekers Need to Know...

Hi there,

I've put together a job seeker special report for my loyal blog readers. As you know, I am totally committed to helping you find the job you've always wanted. But there are many steps for success that must be negotiated while you keep your eyes on the prize.

Each of these steps is subject to a number of obstacles and hurdles that you must avoid or overcome if you are to achieve your ultimate goals. You CAN do it, if you take a little advice...

The 3 Reasons Why So Many People Fail to Succeed in Their Job Search
  1. Lack of Understanding. If you think employers only care about skills and experience, you're WRONG! You have to find out all the reasons why employers hire...
  2. Lack of Preparation. Did you know that less than 5% of applicants are even considered for an interview? Why? It all comes down to adequate preparation—in every aspect of the job search, from your resume to the follow up letter after an interview.
  3. Lack of Knowledge. You MUST be able to market and advertise yourself successfully or you're going to be left in the dust for sure! You have to know how to attract employers with your resume. You have to how to convince employers you're a person to interview, and you have to know how to negotiate the maximum salary. Do you?

When you have the right understanding, preparation, and knowledge, you'll have an unfair advantage over most other job seekers.

It's easy to gain the understanding, preparation, and knowledge you need when you have this great new toolkit in your arsenal...

Do You Know the Magic 9 Words That Can Score You an Interview?

Every job seeker needs to know these 9 words.

What it comes down to is demonstrating confidence and also setting an expectation that an interview is in the offing. Where?

In your cover letter of course...

Your cover letter has one purpose—to get the recruiter to read your resume more closely.

OK, here are those magic 9 words:

"I look forward to meeting you during the interview."

So simple, yet so powerful!

I bet you didn't know know that more than 90% of people fail to ask for an interview in their cover letter. Yes, it's true. So, start showing that you WANT that interview by making it crystal clear in every cover letter you send.

Learn even more valuable tips on interviews with this great new resource...

REVIEW: Exciting New Job Seeker Resource

"The Best Job Search Step By Step Secrets" by David Green, hiring manager extraordinaire
I have just recently discovered that David Green has published an exciting new job seeker resource, called "The Best Job Search Step By Step Secrets". I've read many of David's works before and they are top notch. This is a guy who really knows how to help you succeed. And he's got the real world experience to back it up.

This time around, he has published a comprehensive toolkit for job seekers everywhere. I mean it, this course covers everything:

  • How to prepare a powerful resume
  • Writing effective cover letters
  • Insider secrets to conquering interviews
And if that's not enough for you, he's included six (6!) high quality bonuses to sweeten the pot, which is already pretty sweet, since this toolkit costs less than $40, which is not much more than you'd pay for a professional resume review or a resume writing book at your local bookstore.

The absolute best bonus is his offer of personalized consultation. This is almost unhead of on the internet... at least at this price.

Other bonuses include advice on working from home, cover and thank you letter templates, information on how to get promoted, salary software, and resume samples.
I really can't recommend this kit enough. I haven't seen anything like this anywhere else on the Web. As I said, it's a really good price too, but if you act quickly, you might even get offered a special deal on the site where you can get his product even cheaper. But even at the higher price, it's well worth every penny.

Learn more about "The Best Job Search Step By Step Secrets" for job seeker...

But don't just take my word for it. Here's what one of David's happy customers had to say:

"I gained knowledge that has made my resume stand above and beyond even the most experienced and well trained individual!"

"The Best Job Search Step By Step Secrets is an easy to read course full of valuable information. I am a college student with plans of attaining an internship, and sometimes it is difficult to get employers to take a person with such little experience seriously. However, after just the first few pages, I gained knowledge that has made my resume stand above and beyond even the most experienced and well trained individual!

I acquired information that truly made the preparation process
efficient, productive, and even fun. I wholeheartedly recommend this course to
anyone who wants to get a jump start on their career."
... Jeff Walker,
Milwaukee WI

Here's a few closing words from David Green himself...

"Having a successful job search begins with having a powerful professional resume, persuading cover letter, and confident interviewing skills you can believe in.
You should NEVER EVER settle for less! But just like any situation in your life, you have a choice. You can take total control of your job search or continue to leave it in question??

The simple truth is, there is a part of you that wants to take action to point yourself towards amazing job offers, and ultimately, securing your career and life with immeasurable benefits.

You deserve to have your dream job!
You deserve a job that pays you the maximum salary!
You deserve a job that gives all the benefits you desire to secure your life!

The only question you need to ask yourself is whether having real security, peace, and happiness in your life is worth a small investment?"

In summary, if you're a job seeker in search of resume help and cover letter tips, not to mention interview skills, you NEED this course. Get the unfair advantage. You deserve it!
